Re : Election Policies

As responsible members of society and as mature Christians, we are bound to exercise our right to vote in the May 10, 2010 national and local elections. This will be an opportune time for us to contribute to the shaping of our nation’s future. We therefore enjoin every CAMACOP member to cast his vote as befitting a good citizen.
Everyone is likewise urged to pray for this important period in our nation’s history. The results of the election will undoubtedly wield influence on all sectors of society, us included. Hence, we should seek God’s will concerning our national and local leaders.
Emphatically, please refrain from politicking. Be reminded that CAMACOP as a denomination is not endorsing any candidates, in compliance with our policy that says: “CAMACOP recognizes the duty of Christian citizens to get involved in the socio-political life of the State (Rom. 13:1-6; 1 Tim 2:1-3). Members may be members of political parties or seek public office as a ministry. CAMACOP and churches may not, however, endorse a political party or a particular candidate.” (GA-97-18).
CAMACOP ministers/pastors running for any positions are expected to likewise comply with the amended policy that states: “Upon filing of his certificate of candidacy for a public elective office, he shall be required to go ‘on leave’ from his present office or position. If he is not elected into office, he may return to his office or position if such is the understanding with his employer at the time of filling of candidacy.”
“Upon election and qualification for said public elective office, his credentials will be withdrawn and he may not perform his institutional ministerial functions: such as holding a pastorate and officiate marriage and communion. He may not be elected into CAMACOP national, regional or district office. He may be an elder of the church.”
“Upon completing his term of office, he may apply in writing for the restoration of his credentials with CAMACOP through the Office of the President who shall approve the same if said applicant remain in good standing with a local church and with CAMACOP.”
“The above policies shall apply to all licensed and ordained workers of CAMACOP. This applies to political appointees whose term of office is co-terminus with the term of the appointing Official. It does not apply to career officials in Government.” (BT-95-98, as amended)
Further, please take note of the following dates appertaining to the May 10 elections:
